Spiritual Fitness

Summer Season
By Janice Montgomery
According to Feng Shui keeping your environment free of
clutter is the first step in improving your
environment. In the winter time it is easy to collect
clutter because the weather keeps you indoors. That is
why there is spring cleaning. Why wait until spring?
Clean up your clutter! And remember if you make a
mistake you can always start over as many times as
needed until you are satisfied starting with small steps
and giving yourself credit when you deem it do.

Now that we have your environment free of clutter
(almost free) we can start on the inside. What would
you like to improve in your life and how can you
facilitate that: Maybe take a course in meditation?
How about self-help books? You could join a support
group?
There
are many options available to you, but first try to do
it with a sense of humor. For example you
might gain inspiration from watching something like the Steven Seagal movie
“Exit Wounds”. Related Plot: He is sent to a support group by his
boss and his first night at the class for anger
management there is humorous group scene. If you are
not into action movies, you don’t have to watch the
whole movie, but that scene at the support group might
get you in the right mood if you would enjoy a good
laugh.
Another popular way to make changes in your life is
physical fitness, which includes dancing. Partner
dancing has taken a new interest lately. Dancing not
only can get you into shape, but you will be forced to
work on your social skills. Okay now you are looking
better on the outside and you are starting to improve
your social skills and doors are starting to open up for
you.
Maybe
this is the time to watch the Dali Lama movies for a
little spiritual fitness? You can believe
me, they are not boring. You will feel better after
watching them. Action movies are my favorite so at
first the idea of watching a documentary of the Dali
Lama was not appealing. Think again; you will feel
better. Maybe you won’t feel better on a physical level
which you probably relate to but on a psychological
level. Surprise! We are working on the inside!
You
can’t make a mistake because what you do now will take
you to the next step which you might think is the right
step, but the step you took before that right step got
you there.
Wouldn’t it be cool if they had groups of philosophers
discussing their ideas like in Plato’s time? What was
that like? Did it expand their minds?
Okay,
start with the Two minute workout or dancing; either may
take less concentrating for now. It is said that Yoga
was a form of exercise to begin with and helped the
Monks lesson their body concern to facilitate
meditation.
I'll give you some ideas to enhance body - mind exercise
in another article to super charge your FLOWBAR
workouts. I take mine with me during my busy days it's
been helpful to make it easier to fit in a decent
workout with my busy schedule which includes caring for
my mother.
As many of you know I was a fashion model in the sixties
for a line of swimsuits my honey bunny has put a photo
slide show together for your enjoyment using mostly
black and white photos from my portfolio. I'll write
more about what I learned from modeling and the effect
it had on my overall fitness in another issue.
